Good Health is destroying Itself

With all of our modern technology and medicine creating a sterile world, we are loosing our ability to naturally fight off disease, and also increasing the strength of the virii we are trying to destroy.

International travel is beginning to pose a continually growing threat to health. Viruses that were once contained in foreign lands are now finding their new homes all over the world, carried on board by passengers unaware.

Other hazards are evolving daily. Anything from food processing, overuse of antibiotics as a quick fix, and the death ritual customs of other cultures. Particuarly in India, where a certain tribe leaves their dead to rot and be eaten by vultures high utop a tower. The corpses are passing on germs to the birds. The germs themselves are evolving to make interspecies leaps, killing off many of the rare vultures.

The West Nile virus, never before seen in the Americas, has now been some insects and birds in several US states. The actual method of transport this virus chose in unclear. It could have come by a mosquito, an infected pet, or by infected food.

The real concern is how fast this will spread. Reported number of outbreaks from disease have almost tripled since the 70's. If people become infected, it's not clear as to whether or not the bacteria and virii will mutate into so called "super-bugs" with the ability to resist chemical treatment. Most strains of Staphylococcus aureus are already resistant to penicillin.

Only time will tell. Humanity may need to evolve it's own genetics as well in order to combat these new strains of disease and bacteria. Maybe this is mother nature's way of helping us to grow stronger also.
