As many will recall, four of Dudick’s co-workers died the day the accused walked into the office and began swinging a laptop during an argument. The argument started over an “office pool”, which Dudick felt he unfairly lost. The situation escalated when Chicago’s ever present north side/south side baseball rivalry entered the argument.
A witness testified earlier in the trial, that “Michael just snapped and began swinging the computer around, bludgeoning anyone in striking distance” Another co-worker described the defendant as “a nice guy whose temper just got away from him”.
